Winery review: A rich and beautiful red with lots of berry fruit plus hints of chocolate and vanilla, yet there's a freshness and edge to this wine that keeps it lively and delicious. One of the best Italian wines for the money. — J.S.

My review: Red candied berry flavors, fruity but with great tannic balance.  Dark in color, medium body.  Some spicy undertones, maybe smokey.  Well balanced with great lasting flavors.  This wine was wonderful on the palette.  I did not pair with food, although I could imagine this going well with a creamy pasta.  I would buy this again!  This was the last of my spliz bottles, and I am happy to say I saved the best for last!
